How Can Hardgainers Gain Weight Healthfully?

There isn’t enough information on the net that focuses on how Hardgainers can put on weight healthfully. There is lots of talk about special ergogenic aids (aka supplements) that promise to help put on 10 pounds in X amount of weeks, and hundreds of books out there that claim to know the secret to mass gain but what are the core things we need to focus on?

In order to come up with the core requirements for gaining weight we first must analyze what end product we are trying to achieve.

I think it is fair to say that most Hardgainers would like to:

  • put on as much muscle with as little fat gained as possible
  • want the added benefits of being stronger with added weight
  • have a  better quality of life (the type that comes with having more confidence after looking better)

With these factors in mind I would say that there are 3 requirements for increasing body weight, particularly in regard to muscle mass:

  1. You need to have Hardgainer Specific weight training program
  2. You need to achieve a positive energy balance
  3. You need to achieve a positive nitrogen balance

So get your pencils and notes pads ready, this week we”ll be talking about these 3 requirements and what you’ll need to do to satisfy each one.
